SLES-free products
SLES (Sodium Laureth Sulfate) is a widely used surfactant and cleansing agent. It is usually found in personal care and cleaning products such as shampoo, shower gel, liquid soap, detergent. Known for its foaming and cleaning properties, SLES helps cleanse the skin and hair by dissolving oils and dirt. The term ''SLES-free'' indicates that the product does not contain sodium lauryl ether sulfate in its formulation. Although SLES is an effective foamer and cleanser, it can cause excessive dryness or irritation by removing the skin's natural oils and can cause sensitivity in some skin types. For this reason, skin-friendly alternatives are sought. SLES-free products are usually formulated with gentler cleansers. Therefore, it provides cleansing without drying or irritating the skin. It is more suitable for sensitive or dry skin types. SLES-free formulations contain more natural foamers such as coconut oil, sugar derivatives, or plant-based ingredients. This makes the product attractive to consumers interested in natural ingredients. It affects the skin barrier less.
